Our Facilities
In our practices, we use the very latest technology to ensure that our customers enjoy the best possible results from their treatment. These facilities include advanced materials and also the equipment to perform high quality dedicated dental CT scans.
Why is a CT scan important? If you require implants, it is very important that your dentist can clearly assess how much bone structure there is in the area around the missing tooth. This is because your implant will attach directly to the bone in your jaw, so the bone itself must be deep enough and strong enough to support an implant that will last a lifetime.
In the past, dentists have had to rely on x-rays to determine bone structure, which only provide a 2-dimensional view. The CT scan provides a much more 3-dimensional view of the area and allows your dentist to make a much more informed opinion on whether you are a good candidate for implants. This can make a significant difference to how successful the treatment is in the long term.
From a patient perspective, there is nothing to fear in a CT as opposed to an X-ray. The CT scan is painless and you do not need to do any particular type of preparation prior to arriving at the practice. Only your head will be within the machine and it does not feel claustrophobic. The whole process will take no longer than fifteen minutes.
Of course, if you are nervous about any aspect of your treatment, feel free to talk to us about it. Our CT scanners are operated by trained radiographers who can put you at your ease, answer any questions and ensure that you feel comfortable before, during and after the process.
